Raising Awareness: On and Off The Race Circuit

2009 Zambia Bike Challenge

With the weekend merely hours away it seems an ideal opportunity to mention Team Gravytrain and E3 Sports’ plans for this weekend. On Saturday 13th November both Kevin Taylor (Managing Director at Gravytrain) and Jim Edwards will be racing in the Mazda MX5 Winter Cup at Brands Hatch circuit (Kent). Kevin will be racing in 3 races in one of E3 Sport’s kitted out  Mazda MX5s. Jim, who is currently ranked 3rd in the Mazda MX5  Winter Cup is set to race in the other.

Kevin will also be featuring in a Motors TV interview talking about African Revival and their race for charity – raising awareness for 2011 Zambia Bike Challenge. Kevin (who ran the London Marathon for African Revival in 2008) decided to take African Revival onboard (free of charge) as a Gravytrain social media client to help raise further awareness for their cause.

E3 Makes The Podium at Donington

Jim Edwards Jnr on his way to 3rd place in the 2010 Mazda MX5 Winter Cup

As E3 Sport’s sponsors it gives us a huge amount of pride to spread the word about their success at Donington this weekend. Jim Edwards Jnr managed to grab a second row slot on the grid after qualifying 3rd.

Race Breakdown:

Race 1: After qualifying it was clear that both cars were struggling to put out the maximum power so Jim and Mick went into the first race unsure as to how things would pan out. However Jim was seriously charged up and took flight retaining 3rd place after the start only to be punted off by Championship Director Jonathan Blake who subsequently hi the barriers. Jim was down to 7th place when the safety car came out and promptly fought his way up to 4th place, challenging for 3rd until the chequered flag came out. Mick was also in the wars a bit after being shoved off at the start recovering to a mid field finish.

Race 2: The results of Race 1 determined the grid for the second race and both drivers set off to improve on their race one results. Sadly it wasn’t to be for Jim who only managed 5th place but Mick was starting to get to grips with the 2nd car and came home 7th.

Race 3: Again, the grid for race 3 was determined by the results of race two which put some pressure on Jim who was starting in 5th place. He coped with the pressure well and fought hard, battling with Adam Gore along the way. Jim got the better of eventually getting the better of the Mk1 front runner and taking 3rd place. E3 Sports first podium in our first year – Great Job!!!

E3 will be racing again in the 2010 Mazda MX5 Winter Cup – Brands Hatch – 13th November
