Engagement

Gravytrain began a Social Media campaign for Just Landlords in January 2011, with the aim of creating more brand awareness and visibility online, engaging with actual and potential customers and driving more traffic to the website.

The focus of the Social Media campaign was mainly on creating a successful profile on Twitter but also on developing a successful Fan Page on Facebook.

Strategy

In order to build up our presence on Twitter, and gain more followers, we have tweeted at least 2 times every day. However, what has been important is not just how often we tweet but what we tweet. As well as tweeting original, fresh content that is published on the Just Landlords website we also Tweet other interesting news and content from related property sites.

As well as tweeting relevant content we also engage with other, related users, through @mentions and Re-Tweets. We connect with other property related users on a daily basis through Tweeting their content, answering their questions and getting involved with discussions they initiate.

At the start of our engagement with Twitter, for Just Landlords, we also identified a number of highly relevant and popular accounts that we would like to engage with and have follow are account. We were then able to follow these targets, Re-Tweet them and engage with them in order to encourage them to follow us and increase our visibility and brand awareness within the sector.

Results

Since we launched the Twitter account for Just Landlords we have seen some excellent results. In less than 6 months, we have been able gain over 500 followers and 172 mentions from other users.

As you can see from the table and graph below, we have gained a large volume of new followers every month and have been able to increase the number of mentions from other users and the number of lists we are referenced on.

We are currently gaining multiple new followers every single day and being mentioned by other users between 10-20 times each week. In fact, almost all of our Tweets are now Re-Tweeted or replied to by other users.

Our activity on Twitter has been highly positive for Just Landlords, not only has it helped us increase traffic to the website it has also enabled us to reach out to and connect with customers, publicise new products and content online and increase the company’s brand awareness online.

It has also had many wider reaching benefits, such as giving us a platform to negotiate links from related websites and a point of contact with related businesses that can promote the Just Landlords products to their customers.
