This role is to join our growing development team, and work with our high-profile clients such as OPI, Les Girls Les Boys and Bulldog Skincare. You will be helping to design and build beautiful Ecommerce websites, to the highest standards. Your concentration will be Magento 2 Frontend, and you will work with our Head of Web Services and the rest of the development team to create and improve the Magento 2 processes.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, accurately logging their time against each task they are given, with having excellent personal time management.

This role is expected to advise on best development practices; and draw on previous experience to make realistic and commercially viable solutions to problems. We need a forward-thinking individual with a high level of understanding of the current industry trends.

Main Activities

Below is a non-exhaustive list of day-to-day activities that are involved in this role:

  • Take part in scrum style stand ups
  • Estimate and evaluate tickets
  • Communicate solutions effectively to managers and other developers
  • Follow instructions and recommendations made by senior developers of managers
  • Develop new functionality and styling to W3C standards
  • Commit work effectively to version control within the set framework
  • Be responsible for your own list of tasks
  • Communicate and advise designers on Responsive Redesign

Skills and Capabilities

The ideal candidate must have commercial experience in the following areas or have relevant transferable skills:

  • Magento Frontend Developer Certified
  • Demonstrable CMS Experience: Magento 2.x Frontend
  • Full Magento 2 theme development experience
  • Magento 2 features knowledge
  • WordPress & Magento Integration Experience – basic
  • PHP
  • Responsive design principles and Reflow
  • Frontend SEO best practices
  • Microsoft Office (minimum: Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Multi-device and multi-browser testing

Candidates must have advanced skills in:

  • HTML 5
  • CSS 3
  • jQuery
  • JavaScript (non-framework)
  • SASS/LESS pre-processing
  • GULP/Grunt pre-processing
  • Git/SVN Version Control

Additional skills that are beneficial to the job include:

  • Magento 1 frontend experience
  • Use of MWI Magento WordPress Integration
  • Frontend optimisation experience
  • Atlassian JIRA/Confluence Software
  • Foundations 5+ or Bootstrap 3+
  • Producing a testing plan
  • Test Driven Development (TDD) or Behaviour Driven Development (BDD)
  • Agile methodologies
